ORGANIC SKIN CARE ACCORDING TO YOUR SKIN TYPE

ORGANIC SKIN CARE ACCORDING TO YOUR SKIN TYPE

Skin care is a complex and deeply personal topic for each individual, as is the choice about whether to use organic skin care products. But if you do use organic products, you may be wondering how to tailor your product use to your unique skin type. That’s where we come in! Keep reading for a quick breakdown of what organic skin care should look like with acne-prone skin, dry skin, and sensitive skin.

WHAT IS ORGANIC SKIN CARE?

Organic skin care includes any skin product that was prepared without pesticides, fertilizers, GMOs, sulphates, parabens, or antibiotics. The idea is that by only using high-quality ingredients that haven’t been affected by these additives, the makeup of the product is healthier for your skin—and healthier for your body since your skin can absorb some of the product, too.

One quick note: Organic and natural are not actually the same thing in the skin care world. For a product to be labeled with the “organic seal,” it has to meet stricter standards than a product that’s labeled “natural.” Think of them as being very similar, but natural as being a slightly looser term. It is always best to read the ingredients label and identify that at least the ingredients important to you are labeled Organic. With that difference covered, let’s take a look at organic skin care for acne-prone skin.

ORGANIC SKIN CARE FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN

For acne-prone skin, the goal of a skin care regimen is typically to keep oil at bay. Organic products are great for acne-prone skin because some acne is actually triggered by skin irritation that can be affected by the chemicals and additives in non-organic products. If you’re having trouble with acne, consider making the switch to more natural and organic lines and see if that helps your skin.

Some great organic products for acne-prone skin include this pair of acne-repair products from Aleavia (the ingredients are 100% natural & organic) and this serum from Odacité that People Magazine calls “The Wonder Serum.”

ORGANIC SKIN CARE FOR DRY SKIN

For dry skin, the objective is clear: restore the skin’s moisture and repair any flaking or peeling from the dryness. There are tons of organic moisturizers on the market, plus hydrating serums that work overtime to bring moisture back to your skin. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid (a natural molecule found all throughout your body), natural oils, and even aloe vera. Double-cleansing can also be great for dry skin; you’ll start with an oil cleanse, then follow with a gentle cleanser.

Our favorite organic products for dry skin include this Agent Nateur cleansing oil (Ecocert approved in Europe for organic cosmetics) and this Earth Harbor hydrating serum.

ORGANIC SKIN CARE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

For sensitive skin, organic products can be especially useful because they don’t contain any of the most common triggers for flare-ups and irritations. Beyond that, you’ll want to do small patch tests to monitor which products work well for your skin, but rest assured that the organic ingredients means you’re likely to have better results than you would with a non-organic product.

We’re loving this Aleavia purifying facial cleanse in particular. When your skin shows disruptions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, sun spots or premature aging, it’s crying out for balance. The Aleavia Purifying Facial Cleanse gently and effectively sloughs off dead skin cells, toxins and excess oil to bring your skin’s pH to its optimum level and relieving irritation. Nutrient-rich Acadian sea kelp gives starving skin vital nourishment, organic extra-virgin coconut oil infuses your skin with moisture and soothing aloe vera purifies the skin. This revolutionary cleanser does more than just remove surface impurities—it balances, nourishes, purifies and plumps your skin with moisture to bring out the fresh, luminous complexion that you’ve been dreaming of. There you have it! If you have acne-prone, dry, or sensitive skin, check out the products above and let us know what you think. And stay tuned for future blogs to cover other skin care woes!
